Somebody asked the internet why Miami's transit and airport experience is so rough, and the responses came in hot, because of course they did.
Look, we all have the same stories. The Metrorail that goes two directions in a county that sprawls in twelve. The bus that shows up whenever it feels spiritually ready. MIA's arrivals hall, where the line for a taxi can outlast the flight you just took.
The honest answer buried in all the jokes is that Miami-Dade grew around the car, and every transit plan since has been trying to retrofit rail onto a county that was already paved.
The SMART plan promised six rapid transit corridors. Ask a local how many have actually materialized and watch their face do something complicated.
And yet. The Brightline exists and is genuinely nice. The Underline keeps getting better. The free Metromover is still the best deal in downtown. Progress here is real, it is just slower than the traffic on the Palmetto, which is saying something.
If you have a transit horror story or, even rarer, a transit success story, send it to us. We are collecting both.
