A Palm Beach nursing center is facing a lawsuit alleging residents suffered bedsores and scabies while in its care, the Boca Post reported.
Bedsores, or pressure ulcers, are one of the most closely watched indicators in nursing home litigation because in most cases they are preventable with routine repositioning and monitoring. When they appear alongside an infestation like scabies, plaintiffs' attorneys typically argue the combination points to systemic understaffing rather than isolated lapses.
Florida nursing homes are regulated by the Agency for Health Care Administration, which publishes inspection histories for every licensed facility. Families can look up any facility's record at FloridaHealthFinder.gov before choosing a home.
The lawsuit's allegations have not been proven in court, and the facility is entitled to respond.
